Virtual Event First Major Global Education Event in 18 Month Focusing on Gulf Region

AUSTIN -- One of the first major conferences on international higher education and the Gulf Region since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic will be held in October, conference organizers announced Monday. The Alhambra-US Chamber is proud to present the virtual Gulf Higher Education Summit, October 10 & 11, 2021.

“International Higher Education has become vital to the modern world and the first year and half of the pandemic really disrupted its beneficial impact,” explains Anjum Malik, managing partner for the Alhambra US-Chamber. “The Gulf Higher Education Summit brings together leading academics and other influencers to discuss how international higher education can not only move forward but build itself back better.”

Drawing higher education leaders and thought leaders from the MENA region, North America, and the U.K. as speakers, the summit is honored to welcome as its keynote speakers H.E. Amr Salama, Secretary General of the Arab Association of Universities and Jamil Salmi, Expert in Global Tertiary Education. Topics of discussion for the summit are offered with a specific focus on the Gulf region, its students, and the role of international education in regional development policy, they include:

  • Reimagining higher education

  • The road ahead in educational mobility

  • The future of aligning student interests, industry needs, and university programs

  • Trends in post-Covid higher education

“Higher education globally is going through challenging times, however  it is also a golden opportunity to reimagine the sector through embracing new modalities, adapting business models, widening access , developing new partnerships and putting high quality innovative teaching and learning at the heart of its transformation. Critical to this has to be bold, forward thinking and possibly non traditional leadership” says Cameron Mirza, (IREX) Chief of Party for USAID Pre Service Teacher Education, a key moderator at the summit.

Admission to the summit is free and open to all. Those interested in additional details can visit the summit website at https://alhambrauschamber.org/welcome.
