Alhambra to Promote Fast Track Programs in New Zealand

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND–A representative of the Global Initiative for Education and Leadership (UTGI), a program at The University of Texas at Austin, will be in Auckland September 20th to 25th to promote its Fast Track programs, offering international students accelerated learning, enrichment, and professional development curriculum along with the opportunity to study in the United States during the summer.

UTGI will be represented by Anjum Malik, Director of Global Marketing and Public Relations. “Programs such as Fast Track are part of a worldwide shift to more opportunities for international education,” says Malik. “Everywhere we go, people are excited about Fast Track and the opportunity to take summer courses at UT Austin. We look forward to welcoming students from New Zealand into these programs.”

The focus of UTGI’s promotional efforts in New Zealand is the USA Universities Expo, hosted by EducationUSA, a network sponsored by the State Department to facilitate international students’ study in the United States. UT and a select group of major U.S. colleges and universities were specially invited to participate in the event. While in New Zealand, UTGI will promote Fast Track and its other offerings in meetings with a variety of educational institutions.

“Fast Track programs enable UT’s mission to use education to create opportunities to go global,” says Richard Flores, Senior Associate Dean for the College of Liberal Arts and Executive Director for the Global Initiative. “At the same time, they help further increase UT’s visibility on the international stage.”

UTGI’s Fast Track programs are designed to prepare students from around the world for matriculation to American universities. Through a combination of cultural and skill-enhancing workshops and University of Texas courses, Fast Track students build the foundations for success in the American university system.

Fast Track programs include the following features:

• Academic and leadership seminars taught by UT faculty, including topics such as mental agility, reading and writing strategies, effective study skills, and leadership development;

• Enrollment in summer courses at The University of Texas at Austin. (for Fast Track Plus and Premium students only); and

• Support services in a number of areas, ranging from test preparation and academic counseling to conversation groups and cultural activities.
