Westbank Scholarship Student Receives National Accolade

Bara’h Odey, an alumna of the Alhambra-organized Westbank Scholarship program, was a featured speaker at TEDx in Denver.

At the TEDx Mile High event in Denver, Odey delivered a talk on the conditions in her homeland of Palestine, which earned her a standing ovation from the audience.

“Odey shows the impact that the Westbank/Newmark Scholarship can have on the lives of young women,” says Alhambra’s Managing Partner, Anjum Malik.

The Westbank Scholarship is a needs-based scholarship available to young females from the West Bank and Afghanistan to study in English in the United States, as well as take educational and professional development seminars. Operating in conjunction with Craig Newmark (Founder of Craigslist) and the Intensive American English Institute, the program was organized and is administrated by Alhambra.

“These are women who, otherwise, would never have had the opportunity to study abroad. As we see, its impact can be absolutely transformative.” Malik says.

The scholarship program is supported by voluntary contributions and additional donors are always welcome. Interested parties are invited to contact Alhambra.
